A memorial statue of Hanako, Inokashira Park Zoo's elephant, is displayed in front of Kichijoji Station on May 7, 2017, Tokyo, Japan. One year after her death, a 1.5m tall 2.5m long statue of the Asian Elephant was unveiled last Friday, May 5, outside Kichijoji Station. Hanako who died on May 26, 2016, aged 69, was the oldest elephant in Japan. She was originally a gift from the Thai government in 1949. The statue was funded by private donations.
