Japanese students arrive at Tokyo University to sit national university admission tests on January 14, 2017, Tokyo, Japan. This year 575,966 high school students will take the tests across 691 test centers nationwide over the weekend of January 14-15. The National Center of University Entrance Examinations reported an increase in 12,198 examinees over the last year. Japan's Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology plans to introduce a new test system, which would evaluate students two or three times per year, from fiscal 2020.
